Have you ever had one of those days where everything felt right? Life seemed effortless? Joy just bubbled to the top and stayed there for no apparent reason? The slightest positive thing made you smile. What a day, huh? Well, chances are you had tapped into your purpose and were living it in full force. Either that OR you were getting married! : )
Can you imagine living your life like that? Wow! Right? The idea that you could experience some kind of certainty that you were headed in the right direction with the right people doing the right things. Again, Wow!
Wouldn’t it be great if there were a machine we could plug into that told us how far off we were from achieving that? Well, there is! That machine is you!
There are indicators that we experience everyday that tell us whether we are on the right path. These indicators are unique to you and if you start to pay attention you will start to recognize them. Today we will step into this subject and give us a chance to identify at least one of those indicators by reviewing the work we did in last weeks post.
If you haven’t finished last weeks post, go ahead and put some more time into it. There is no rush. This post isn’t going anywhere. In fact, we’ll be here rooting for you and more importantly we’ll be here when you are done.
Yay! You’ve got your purpose worked out? That's fantastic! It truly is. I’m doing my Snoopy dance! To me, it's that big of a deal! You now have a very important tool to help you stay on your path to happiness, success, and fulfillment, and it’s part of your journey toward being an ARTIST! That's borderline magical!
I’m just so flippin’ excited for you! For me! For the whole world! Whoop! Whoop!
Okay, feet on the ground, Annie. Let's keep moving. You’ve discovered your purpose and your whole life is in front of you! Now what?
Well, let’s do something crazy! Let's see if the life you have been living is aligned with your purpose.
Let's start by listing the interactions in your life with which you can apply your purpose.
So... Who do you interact with?
Yourself
Your family
Your friends
Your work
Your co-workers
Your art
your religious, spiritual or philosophical interests
Your clubs
Your pets
Ask yourself how you have manifested your purpose in each of these areas.
Just to get you started let’s use Chris’ purpose from last week's post as an example.
As you may recall, Chris created calm with his students to help them make better choices.
Does Chris’ career measure up to his purpose?
In order to assess this I had to ask him what kinds of choices his students had made because of his ability to create calm in the classroom?
Chris offered these as just a few examples:
I am smart.
I can read well.
I can be a good student.
I want to be a veterinarian.
I have value.
I can be anything I want to be.
I can help others.
Wow! So, as you can see, Chris has definitively been achieving his purpose as a teacher! Great job, my friend!
The idea here is tap into those moments when you know you were following your purpose so you can recognize how it felt. There is a very particular feeling that goes with it. I would describe it as satisfying with a dash of certainty.
This feeling is one we should come to know. It is an indicator of whether we are on our path to happiness, success and fulfillment. But just as importantly this is the feeling we should recognize when it is not there.
Take some time and look over your relationships and identify where you are living your life in alignment with your purpose. Take note of it. Cheer about it! It's a big deal!
When we start to live our lives more and more aligned with our purpose, we have achieved that point where hard work becomes effortless and that is where the door to you as an ARTIST begins to open. Your world becomes more clear and it becomes easier to see which challenges will expand, enrich and enhance your life and the lives of those around you.
I wish this life for each and every one of you! You are an ARTIST. We see it.
Next week we'll look just a bit deeper into our purpose and discover more ways we can use it to help create an amazing life!
w o w! i love this!
Thanks for dropping by!
